Look closely at the center of the leaf and tell me what you see. A spider! Yes, and that's the OMG moment I had when walking down a path in Paris' Bois de Boulogne. But first, let me back up a bit. I flew to Paris from Valencia and arrived at my hotel at 10am and the room wasn't ready yet. Naturally, I grabbed my camera and walked into the nearest Park. The Bois de Boulogne is public park located along the western edge of the 16th arrondissement of Paris and the land was ceded to the city of Paris by the Emperor Napoleon III and was turned into a public park in 1852.
As I walked along a path shortly after entering the park, a leaf stopped me in my tracks. This leaf was hanging only by the silk of a spider and slowly rotating in the breeze. I spent more than an hour shooting the leaf from every angle until I annoyed myself and continued on. Isolating the leaf using a large aperture gives the leaf clarity and the background a blurry array of color. Spoiler Alert - I was so happy to learn that during the early part of the shoot, there was a spider on the leaf.
It always amuses me that some people just walk down a path and that is the extent of their experience. There are so many cool and interesting things to see and discover if we only take the time to observe our surroundings. maxdobens.com
