Max Dobens, the Tripod Traveler, recently visited the Historic Garden of the Monasterio de Piedra situated in Nuévalos (Zaragoza) Spain. The gardens, although man-made, are visually stunning and expansive featuring 3 waterfalls and 30 species of birds. A former monastery of the Cistercian Order is now converted into a luxury hotel and looks down on the park. Built in 1186, the monastery was active for over 600 years.
For better or for worse, I spent over two hours shooting just the 3 waterfalls and literally ignored the rest of the park. I arrived early to avoid the crowds as my visit unfortunately fell on a Saturday when it was more crowded than usual. It was my first waterfall composition and shoot with the new Nikon Z8 and I was not disappointed. The sensor is twice as sensitive as the one on my D780 and it has many other great features that make it even more enjoyable to do what I love doing.
